COVID-19 related info with respect to the NEOBIOTA2020

Dear Colleagues!
Inevitably, we have to start this letter, again, with covid-19 related issues. Situation is far from anyone expected to be during the Northern hemisphere summer months. Every day we can see how countries are expanding the red list of other countries in terms of recommendations for travelling, which affects Croatia as well. We could go into analyses and debate to what extent inclusion of some other country is justified or not, but at the end there is no point into it. In most cases, such decisions are made for economic and political needs. The bottom line is the consequence that many of you will not being permitted to travel to Croatia, and will have to participate on-line. Nevertheless, we are trying our best to ensure that even under such circumstances, NEOBIOTA2020 Conference will provide you stimulating and constructive environment.

For many of us, this will be new or nearly new experience and we all have to contribute to make most out of it. Part of the Conference will be application through which you will be able to participate on-line for Q&A during oral and poster sessions, to see all posters etc. We have to emphasize, that it is expected that all presenting authors register and pay registration fee, which has remained until September 11th at lower rate. We already explained before why we could not lower the fee for the on-line participation, but we ensure you that you will receive your Conference materials via surface mail, after the Conference.

Official information and latest updates on COVID-19 situation in Croatia can be found at https://www.koronavirus.hr/en

With respect to traveling to Croatia we recommend you to inform yourselves using below links:

Presentations

Oral

Authors of on-site oral presentations have to prepare their presentations as power point or pdf documents. Because of the hybrid format of the Conference, and necessity to share screen via video link, presenters notes most probably could not be displayed as in usual circumstances when presentation is just projected and you could use computer screen for your notes.

Maximum 12 minutes is allocated for presentation, and at least three minutes for questions and discussion. Chairpersons will be instructed to force these limitations sharp. We encourage all on-line presenters to pre-record their talks and send us before September 7th to this e-mail neobiota2020@biol.pmf.hr Please include at the beginning of the name of your file, label of your talk (Ox) which you can find in the attached Programme. In case of the on-line participation, please check in advance speed of your internet connection at the location from where you will participate, especially if you intent to give real-time talk (without pre-recorded one), and make sure that your upload speed is minimum 10 Mbps (ideally 20 Mbps). You can test your internet speed using various free tests (e.g. https://www.speedtest.net/ ). The company that will manage on-line part of the Conference might contact you few days before Conference for testing purposes. It is very important to use same location (with same Internet speed) during the test as you intend to use during the participation to the Conference.

Poster

Authors of poster presentations who will come to Vodice has to arrange and print their posters in portrait orientation, up to A0 size. All authors of posters has to prepare a pdf document of their poster, which they should send before September 7th to this e-mail neobiota2020@biol.pmf.hr Please include at the beginning of the name of your file, label of your poster (Px) which you can find in the attached Programme. Do not overburden your posters with text.

We still encourage everyone who can make it, to come to Vodice, and to book your accommodation in the Hotel Venue. Majority of recent covid-19 cases in this part of Croatia was consequence of individual behaviour on occasions on which rationality becomes less important (night clubs, weddings, family gatherings). As written before, we will implement all necessary measures to secure availability of disinfection agents and ensuring space for social distance on-site.
